Decision Process
The First Fifty's approach to investigating investment opportunities
is designed to efficiently collect and evaluate the initial information
on the prospective portfolio company. First the requested material
is sent using e-mail. Next, a preliminary review is conducted (usually
within seven working days) and an introductory meeting date is set.
The subsequent steps of the process are interactive and complex,
requiring, for example: multiple meetings, discussions of terms
of investment, due diligence activities, and preparation of appropriate
documents. The time required to complete the last steps of the
investment review process vary from company-to-company and can
ranging from as little as several weeks to as long as several
months in some cases. The investment process requires the parties
really getting to know each other, which is a non-trivial investment
of time.
All investment decisions are based upon a thorough review of the
company's business plan, a review of the company's technology,
and quality of the management team.
